A Writer's Life | Self-Publishing Tips
I am so excited to finally be launching this blog and YouTube channel that I have dreamed about for years. This is truly something I have been passionate about for a very long time.
Every since I first decided to self-publish my own fiction back in 2010, I have wanted to spread the word about the Indie Author path to publication. It isn’t easy, but man, it’s so incredibly rewarding.
Today, I finally launched the first of many YouTube videos for my Heart Breathings channel. This is just the beginning, and I’m so freaking excited!
I will be releasing a video over at on YouTube every single day this week to celebrate the launch of my new channel, and I’ll be posting here on my site right along with it! I’ll also have some great free printables this week here on the blog, so be sure to check back.
In the comments below, I’d love to hear from you. Where are you in your publishing journey? What topics would you most like to hear about in the coming weeks and months?
I can’t wait to get to know you better and to help support you on your author journey.
I have been self-publishing my books since 2010, and in that time, I've sold well over half a million copies of my books. I'm not a superstar or a huge bestseller, but I have built an amazing career that brings me great joy. Here at Heart Breathings, I hope to help you find that same level of success. Let's do this.
I was wondering if maybe you could do a video on what kind of costs we could be looking at starting out??
I am thinking about writing my first book. I am clueless as to where or how to get started
Rai, yes! I will definitely be taking a look at costs. The costs honestly can vary greatly, but I can give you tons of options and even some ideas for saving money as you start out. I’m excited you are thinking of writing your first book!!! That’s awesome! Over time, I’ll go over lots of writing tips, as well as publishing tips!
Hi Sarra!
Just discovering Heart Breathings and it is so what I need right now! I’m gonna binge on the blog posts and videos that are available now and will follow on after that. 🙂
I’m a published indie author as well (I published one book under the pen name Valerie L. Ravenscroft) but then Pronoun shut down and my book has been getting some comments that I feel are valid and needs a good edit but I can’t afford it 🙁 (I literally have less than $100 in my bank account right now…)
So I’ve taken the book down (well, Pronoun has and I haven’t republished it yet) and I’ve taken a step back from writing (even temporarily closed my website.)
The thing is, I’ve got tons of ideas but I struggle with the planning side of it all: plotting, email marketing, launch strategies, daily planning, you name it!
I LOVE organizing and I love when everything is in the right place, but there’s just so much to do that half the time, I feel like I’m running around trying to cover it all (the other half the time, I’m sobbing and hiding under the bed covers. :P)
All the questions, the crippling doubts, the wonderings, I have them all!
So I’m gonna stick around because I love the way you write your posts and are so honest with us. I can relate to what you say and how you feel and it cheers me up to see that I’m not alone.
A humongous thank you for launching this blog. You’ve got a fan in me (oh wait, it’s “a FRIEND in me”, isn’t it? XD)
Valerie, I am so glad this has been helping you!! I know how tough it can be, but I also know that with the right strategy and encouragement, you can make your dreams come true! Don’t give up! So excited you are part of the blog now.
